The Ovilla Police Department is a Community-Oriented Police Department. The department has grown to include nine sworn officers and a secretary. Michael Moon is the Chief of Police.

The officers are available 24 hours a day to protect and assist the citizens of Ovilla and anyone who may be passing through the city.

The department will check your home when you are away, aid in fingerprinting needs, assist in setting up Neighborhood Watch groups, inspect your home or business for better ways to protect them, register your home or business alarm system, and numerous other things only a caring small town police department will do.

Mike Moon, Chief of Police

Chief Moon has a 38-year police career and almost 12-years as the Chief of Police in Ovilla. He is a graduate of the Leadership Command College at Sam Houston State University, Graduate of the FBI National Academy and has been a police instructor for the past 26-years.  Chief Moon is a U.S. Army Veteran, holding 36-career commendations.
