1. How can I pay my fine?

You may pay with cash, credit card, money order, or check made payable to the City of Ovilla. Speak with the Court Clerk if you need to arrange a payment plan.

2. May I take a Driving Safety Course to dismiss my ticket?

If you are charged with a traffic offense you may be eligible to take a DSC course to dismiss the charge. The request must be made in person or in writing before the first appearance date of the citation. At the time of request you must plead guilty or no contest, pay a $10 administrative fee PLUS court costs, provide proof of insurance and a Texas driver’s license, have not taken a DSC course within the last 12 months or currently taking the course, do not hold a CDL, and have not committed one of the following: fail to give information or leaving the scene of an accident; passing school bus; serious traffic violation which applies to commercial motor vehicle operators; an offense in a construction zone when workers are present; or speeding 25 mph or more over the limit.

3. Do my parent's need to come with me to Court?

If you are under 18 years of age, then it is required that at least one parent appear with you in court.

1. For what do I need a permit?

Houses, fences, accessory buildings, swimming pools, sprinkler systems, flatwork and garage sales.

2. How long does it take to get permit approval once applied?

City code allows 2 weeks, but typically, it requires 3-4 days.

3. I believe my water bill is incorrect. What can I do?

Contact the Utility Billing/Permit Clerk, (972) 617-7262 and request another reading of the meter. If the reading is correct and you still believe it is wrong, you may have a leak. If the reading is incorrect, utility billing will make the correction to your water bill.

4. My sewer fee is higher than my water fee. How come?

Sewer rates are higher than water rates. For further information or help, please contact the Utility Billing Department, (972) 617-7262.

5. My garbage was not picked up today. Why?

If your garbage was out at the normal collection site before 7:00 am and not collected, contact City Hall at (972) 617-7262, as soon as possible. Allied Waste collection trucks check with City Offices for complaints on pick-up day. If you discover this after hours, contact Allied Waste direct at (972) 225-4207.

6. I have a leak in my house and cannot turn my water off. Whom can I call?

Contact Utility Billing between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. A water maintenance employee will respond. After hours, contact Midlothian Dispatch, (972) 775-3333, to notify the on-call employee.

7. To whom can I complain about high grass?

Contact the city offices Code Enforcement Department (972) 617-7262 during regular working hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm to report high grass/weeds. Code Enforcement will respond.

8. How do I report a missing, found or lost animal?

Call (972) 617-7262 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Request to speak with Animal Control.
